Hello,

I have a quick question:

How can I set up my ATL transformation in Eclipse to save the LOG to a specific file? My setup via Run Config did not accomplish this.

Hi

What is the best way to accept DND drops onto the application window?

The way i found:
- have the active shell injected
- ensure only once, register a new DropTarget( shell, ... );

Or is there a more elegant solution?

Thanks

I was following below URL to create an example based on EMF Forms for my Work activity.

https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/tutorials/getting-started-with-EMF-Forms

But, I was stuck at https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/tutorials/getting-started-with-EMF-Forms/#swt

I'm getting "No application id has been found" error while running the product file as "Eclipse application". Also, i could see an error in the package of contents section (where i wasn't able to open it).

image reference is attached for the error (screenshot).

Someone please check & comment if you have some info on this.

I downloaded the Eclipse Installer and installed Openjdk-8-jdk on Ubuntu 18.04. I then started Oomph and switched to advanced mode.

On this dialog I selected the option to upgrade Oomph. First a progress dialog appeared stating that it collected 2 artifacts.

Next a dialog appears asking whether I trust the relevant certificates. The problem with this dialog is that it will not accept either keyboard or mouse input for any of the controls in the dialog. I could not find any way to cancel Oomph after this.

The rest of Ubuntu continued to function normally so the problem seems to be with Oomph alone. The quit option from the Oomph icon on the task bar also did not function. The only way I could find to terminate Oomph was to logout of Ubuntu or to reboot.

Any idea what I need to do to get the upgrade process to work?

I want to implement a wizard with different pages using sirius specifier tools. I want to specify for every page its title or its description or whether the page is complete.

So I make a section tool section, an Open Wizard dialog with three pages.

Everything is ok: the dialog opens, I can navigate to the next and the previous page, my groups and properties are correctly displayed.

At the level of the Open Dialog, I can specify three expressions: the Title expression, the Description expression and the Is Page Complete expression. But they act independently of the page currently visible. How can I control the title or the description of the IsComplete logic at page level?

I want indeed to make sure that a given page is correctly filled before allowing the user to go to the next page.

Can somebody help with this respect? Many thanks in advance.

Hello,
I have a problem with eclipse upgrade from oxygen to photon.
I added http://download.eclipse.org/releases/photon to
Window > Preferences > Install/Update > Available Software Sites
and then did Help>check for updates >update.
Everything seems ok, eclipse restarts after upgrade and loads as Photon, in eclipse Help> About , i can see that the version is Photon.
But when I exit eclipse , and start it again, eclipse somehow becomes Oxygen version and loads me Oxygen instead of Photon.
It seems that Photon version just vanishes. I tried to upgrade several times, but always get same result.
Why is that happening?

I had a working installation of Oxygen running on MacOS 10.3.6 with jdk 8. I used the Yatta installer to upgrade to Photon. Now eclipse won't start. It complains that it can't find certain jar files, but I can find them.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

For good measure, the relevant log file:

When I am doing a Java project based on m2e, the pom.xml hosts all dependencies to jar files.
In general (I do not know of an exception) these jar files are representing modules in the sense of Java>9. When using a class from e.g. org.apache.commons.io, say FilenameUtil, I do not get the offer to complete the list of imports as with Java<9, because the line requires org.apache.commens.io; is missing in module-info.java.

I have to add that line manually.

I would like to get assisted by Eclipse Java editor in extending module-info.java. Wouldn't that be possible?

I am using Proton 20180619-1200 with m2e 1.9.0.20180606-2036,

I am working as a Java Developer. I am trying to get the Java 7 as the default version on my machine, running Mac OS X 10.9.3. When I run:
java -version

I get:
java version "1.6.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-11M4609)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)

When I run:
javac -version

I get:
javac 1.6.0_65

When I go into System Preferences --> Java --> Update, I see:
Your system has the recommended version of Java.
Java 8 Update 05.

I have some questions:

Why does my Java Control Panel claim I have Java 8, but my work in the terminal (when checking my Java version) says otherwise?

I just downloaded the .dmg file for Java SE 7 from Oracle's site and installed, though it's nowhere to be seen. Where could this be found on my machine?

Thanks & Regards

Hallo!

I have a question about EJBTimerService.

EJBTimerService is central controller, which the use java.util.Timer.
//java.util.Timer jdkTimer = ejbContainerUtil.getTimer();
//jdkTimer.schedule(timerTask, timerExpiration);

My problem is java.util.Timer.mainLoop stop working and new task not scheduled.

After GlassFish source code analyzing I made conclusions.
Problem happen because we receive RejectedExecutionException from ejbContainerUtil.addWork(work) when EJBTimeout.
//EJBTimerTask timerTask = new EJBTimerTask(timerExpiration, timerId, this);
//timerService_.taskExpired(timerId_);

Inside ejbContainerUtil.addWork we have defaultThreadPoolExecutor.submit() = EjbThreadPoolExecutor extends ThreadPoolExecutor + AbortPolicy.

TaskExpiredWork work = new TaskExpiredWork(this, timerId);
ejbContainerUtil.addWork(work);

So timer java.util.Timer.mainLoop stop working,
because core poll is exceeded, queue is full, max core is exceeded, then we receive from ThreadPoolExecutor RejectedExecutionException.

I'm corret? Or I'm wrong?

Note : I want to know how to compile my yocto bsp and not application compiling using cross compiler.

Thank you,

I've recently installed TeamSQL, PostGreSQL(shouldn't affect it anyways), and added the latest safe version of Spring to eclipse. I've uninstalled both SQL programs so I'm left thinking this is a Spring problem?

Is there a way to remove all of Spring with just one click or do I have to remove all parts of it individually? Anything I should try first?

It was working fine a week or so ago.

Open to other suggestions, I'm fairly new to this environment.

I'm used to PHP (Eclipse PDT) but I'm having to work with Lassoscript files and I'm not seeing how to get Eclipse to read them properly. The code is not colored correctly and it's doing improper validation.

I notice Lasso Studio for Eclipse but it's $200 and I'm unable to pay for that right now.

Other editors I'm trying seem to have trouble with Lasso or are not letting me do things like Ctrl+click to find the definition of a function or instantiation of a variable etc, so tracing code is very time-consuming and unreliable.

Hi there,

Haven't been able to find anything on the forum for the problem I'm facing. I've imported two separate projects in my workspace (both are from different git repos). The secondary project is added as a reference project to the primary. I've also added the secondary projects Library folder in the source path of the primary project.

When I hover over a method call in the primary project code, which is based in the secondary project, I can actually see the complete definition of the original method in the secondary project (method commentary, parameter definitions and so on). But unfortunately I cant access it by Ctrl-Clicking the method. I do see it pointing to the origin "project:/xxx/folder/API.js" in the popup when hovering.. but clicking on it doesn't seem to take me anywhere.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any solutions?

Thank you for helping out,

I'm using the Eclipse Luna debugger and like the Watch Expressions feature quite a bit. My question is, is there a way or a workaround to save off the list of Expressions? I'd like to be able to come back to a set of variables without have to use "Add new expression" for each one individually every time.

I'm using Eclipse Luna on a Linux machine. Not sure what version but I can try to dig that up if relevant.

Hi,
I'm working on a z/OS mainframe server, and have a user ID which I can use only in surrogate mode. That means that i use my password and ID, and everything I do will be done in the name of an other ID, without me knowing its password.

The question is if there is a way to manage to do this kind of login from the Rational Developer for Z systems software of Eclipse?

When I log in from 3270 terminal the way of doing this kind of login looks like this:
Userid ===> the ID which I want to use in surrogate mode
Password ===> the password of my OWN ID
Group Ident ===> my OWN ID

Can i perform surrogate login from RDZ?

Hello there,

I'm testing an RCP application where multiple Views are tabbed.
The first of the tabbed Views is shown and initalized, but not the others (second and so on). This lazy initializing of Views is actually a feature: stackoverflow questions 13819127 rcp-application-how-to-forbid-the-lazy-loading-of-view-in-a-folder-layout

I create a test working on the second of the tabbed Views (called "Trassen"). Record and Replay works fine at first.
Then I add a Context reseting the Workbench and defining all the required views, to have a clean base for each test. The replay fails with following message:
Failed to execute the command on the disposed control ViewReference:Trassen.

How can I initialize or activate this view? "click" or "set-focus" doesn't works, I get the same error message. I couln't find something appropriate in the list https://hudson.eclipse.org/rcptt/job/rcptt-all/ws/releng/doc/target/doc/ecl/index.html

The workaround I find so far: let the test open the view whith the menu, selecting the view, approving. But that is cumbersome for my many views (and many tests, although I could put it in an Ecl Context).

For insider, the error message is defined in TeslaMessages.properties and throws in SWTUIProcessor.java:659 https://git.eclipse.org/r/plugins/gitiles/rcptt/org.eclipse.rcptt/+/c394fb5fcf57ec37733db1e62d872d255cd9c0c0/runtime/tesla/org.eclipse.rcptt.tesla.swt/src/org/eclipse/rcptt/tesla/internal/ui/processors/SWTUIProcessor.java#659
Can the code of RCPTT be improved to initialize lazy views?

Many thanks for helping and/or improving!

I would like to know how to conditionally hide footer row which displays the total cost when any of the record in the detail row has CRAFT starting with letter K ? I tried the below condition however it doesn't work on footer row ( Total cost : 1900)

Sample data
CRAFT LineCost
K-ABC 1000
OPERATOR 500
CLEANER 400
Total cost : 1900

Condition used in the visibility on the footer is

if (BirtComp.like(row["craft"],"K%")){
true
}
else {
false

Hello,

I am trying to find out the best way to send individual pages from a birt report to a recipient contained in the data source. Specifically it´s about employees timesheets that their manager should be able to produce and send automatically.

My approach was to run the report and then put code in the onPageBreak Event to print as PDF and send via javascript to an SMTP server. However, I haven´t managed to send to a smtp server from a javascript contained in a birt report.

Has anybody implemented something like this already? Does my approach make sense or am I looking at it the wrong way.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Our app is called CLiKD, we are a rapidly growing dating app which has won a UK dating award previously won by tinder and been have featured on the BBC, MTV, GQ and Forbes.

At this stage looking to take our app development in-house to build the next round of features and would like a developer who can grow into the CTO role as the company grows, building a team beneath them.
I am keen to bring in someone in who is excited about the world of startups and wants to grow with the company.

We are in the middle of fundraising and anticipate being able to offer a competitive salary mix of cash (£50,000-£70,000 P.A) and equity.

The app is currently built in React/Cordova with a PHP Zend back end and MySQL database.
What we need from you
2 Years+ Mobile App Development Experience
MySQL Database Experience
JavaScript application design and testing experience

If you think we would be a suitable fit for us please contact will@clikdapp.com with your CV.
Many Thanks, Will.

Hi, I am totally new to Eclipse plugin development. Could any one tell me how to debug Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler source code? Could you explain that in a detailed step-by-step way with screenshots? I tried to import the source code of Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler into my workspace by importing existing maven project. But there are a lot of errors in the source code. It seems that a lot of dependencies cannot be found. I don't how to deal with that. Shouldn't all the dependencies be already specified in the pom.xml file? I want to run the code in debug mode but I don't know how.

Please also refer to my previous question in the URL below:

https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/1094670/

That is why I need to debug the source code of Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler

Thank you very much!!

I programmatically created an XML format .bpmn file which does not contain any DI information. When I open the .bpmn file in Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler it can display the BPMN diagram and generate the DI information automatically for me. Now I want to write a java method that reads the .bpmn file without DI information, generate the DI information for it and output a .bpmn file with the DI information. I want to use the part of the source code of Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler that generates DI (maybe with some necessary modification) to implement my method. How can I do that? I tried to read the source code of Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler but it is difficult to understand and I don't know how to extract the part of source code I want.

Can anyone please help me?

Thank you very much!

Hello guys,

Having the following structure:

Entity A -> includes an embedded component Address
L2 cache enabled, FULL type, the default one from EclipseLink

During a transaction, before commit time, if we modify the embedded component from a managed entity A, it is instantly reflected in the L2 cache.

We observed that behavior when debugging the L2 cache, more precise using the CacheImpl class (get object method). We observed that the managed entity object shares the same instance of embedded Address with the entity A object resulted from cache.

My question is, did someone else ever experienced this behavior? Does anyone have a solution for this?

We have a third party library which consists entirely of POJOs and interfaces. We cannot modify the source code. Those POJOs can be deeply nested within themselves and cross-referencing each other.
We are trying to generate XML from a class structure that starts in our own code and then uses that third party lib's classes. We wish to generate XML all the way down to the leaves of the structural chain.

Some POJOs can be used as-is, but some - and the interfaces - will require using XmlJavaTypeAdapter(s) to transform them into XML.

So far we have been looking at JAXB that comes with Java 8. It is possible to create the package of one of those POJOs in our project and add the @XmlJavaTypeAdapters annotation to the package-info.java in there. This works locally in tests. However, due to a highly complex general setup of different class loaders, Maven etc, we can't use this approach in production.

So I came to MOXy.
My direct question is:
Can I use the externalized XML bindings file (specified through http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink/xsds/eclipselink_oxm_2_4.xsd) to add XmlJavaTypeAdapter(s) without using annotations in the Java code? In a way that it works for third party classes?

Thank you!

I am using Eclipselink Moxy Implementation of JAXB in my project to map complex XML to String Object using XmlAnyElement. For this I have implemented DomHandler named as LayoutHandler. I am using JAXB for resteasy web services deployed in JBoss 6.

I am facing Below issue intermittently -
  Exception [EclipseLink-50033] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 2.5.0.v20130507-3faac2b):
org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.JAXBException
Exception Description: The DomHandlerConverter for DomHandler
[com.**.LayoutHandler] set on property [layoutXml] could not be
initialized.
Internal Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
com.**.LayoutHandler from
BaseClassLoader@5c0b3ad0{vfs:///*/*/jboss-server/server/all/deployers/resteasy.deployer}
    While EclipseLink Moxy is instantiating JAXBContext using JAXBContext.newInstance(classes, properties)

After spending some time in debugging and analyzing the issue I could figure out that ClassLoader of resteasy is getting used to load LayoutHandler class instead of my application class loader(vfs://///jboss-server/server/all/deploy/app_name.ear/app_name.war/) which is causing the issue as its unable to find the LayoutHandler class.

Further debugging into org.eclipse.persistence.jaxb.JAXBContextFactory revealed that below two classes are getting passed to createContext() method of JAXBContextFactory -

    org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.providers.jaxb.JaxbCollection
    com.**.Model_class

public static javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext createContext(Class[] classesToBeBound, Map properties) throws JAXBException {
        ClassLoader loader = null;
        if (classesToBeBound.length > 0) {
            loader = classesToBeBound[0].getClassLoader();
        }
        return createContext(classesToBeBound, properties, loader);
    }

In above method classloader of first class is getting used to load the custom DomHandler later on.
When first element in array is model class at that time code is working fine as application context class loader is getting used but when the first element in array is JaxbCollection rest easy context class loader is getting used and its throwing mentioned exception.

This issue is occurring intermittently as order of elements in array is varying.

How should I use it?
Thank you for your support.

I am preparing a presentation about HTML5 and I realised some irritating warnings in Eclipse. When I use the <u> and the <s> tag i get the message, that these elements are absolete / discouraged in HTML5.

But my reserche shows, that these are legal HTML5 elements. Is this a bug?

Hi,

I'm trying to use the Kura REST API, but so far I haven't figured out what URL I should use.

I can access the web interface at this URL:

"http://<>/kura"

The documentation states that the API is available under "/services/assets" but if I try to access "http://<>/kura/services/assets" I always get a "404 not found" error.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I assume the URL is wrong.

Jubula plug-in development environment.
We use "Eclipse RCP" to develop our own extension functions. We can install Eclipse into d:\Program Files\EclipseNeon3_RCP directory and workspace can be in the directory d:\JAVA\Jubula_8.5.0. For our development we will need target platform. The content of the target platform directory has to be the same as Jubula that we use for application testing but we will use a different directory. From this reason we can install Jubula in the d:\TargetPlatform\ directory, no Start Menu folder, no shortcuts for all users. The "Target Platform" content is used as a source of dependency packages used for the compiling the code.
Target platform is added to our Eclipse through:
Window→Preferences→Plug-in Development→Target Platform
Initialize the target definition with: Nothing <Next>
Next→Locations→ Add Content→Directory
Add content > Location: d:\TargetPlatform\jubula_8.5.0.127\ite <Finish>
Rename the "New Target" to "Jubula 8.5.0 Target" in the "Name" field <Finish>
Select check box next to new target platform name in the Target Platform section and <Apply>
Set Classpath variable:
Window→Preferences→Java→Build Path→Classpath Variables
ECLIPSE_HOME d:\TargetPlatform\jubula_8.5.0.127\ite <Apply and Close>
Now we can create plug-in.
Create a standalone "Plug-in Project" for each extension function
Project Name: com.mh.jubula.functions.mhReadFile
<Next>
Data to generate plug-in:
ID: com.mh.jubula.functions.mhReadFile
Version: 1.0.0.qualifier
Name: MhReadFile
Vendor: Milos Hroudny
Execution Environment: JavaSE-1.7
Options check boxes unchecked
Radio button 'Rich Client Application': no
<Finish>
Plug-in project structure is created.
Select the "Dependencies" tab and add dependencies for our plug-in:
org.eclipse.jubula.tools (4.0.0)
org.eclipse.osgi (3.11.3)
org.apache.commons.lang (2.6.0)
org.apache.commons.codec (1.6.0)
org.eclipse.jubula.client.core (5.0.0)
org.eclipse.jubula.client.core.functions (5.0.0)
Select "Extensions" tab, click Add. In the dialog New Extension select the org.eclipse.jubula.client.core.functions and set check box Show only...
<Finish>
The selected extension is displayed in the "Extensions" list. Right-click on this package and choose New→function from the context menu.
In the Extension Element Details section fill-in:
name: readFile
class: com.mh.jubula.functions.mhReadFile.ReadFileFunctionEvaluator
evaluator: local
If the function uses parameters, as in this case, open the context menu for the new created function readFile(function) and add the "varArg" argument. Set focus on the X(VarArg). Under the "Extension Element Details", select the argument type "string" argument type. This function uses just one argument and we will configure defaultArgumentCount: 1.
In the "Project Explorer" view, create the com.mh.jubula.functions.mhReadFile package in the src directory. In this package create the "ReadFileFunctionEvaluator" class.
<Finish>
Write the class content:
package com.mh.jubula.functions.mhReadFile;

import java.io.BufferedReader;
import java.io.FileReader;
import org.eclipse.jubula.client.core.functions.IFunctionEvaluator;

public class ReadFileFunctionEvaluator implements IFunctionEvaluator{
@Override
public String evaluate(String[] arguments){
String fileName = arguments[0];
return loadFileToString(fileName);
}

private static String loadFileToString(String fileName){
String line=null;
String text = "";
try{
FileReader inputFile = new FileReader(fileName);
BufferedReader bufferReader = new BufferedReader(inputFile);
while ((line = bufferReader.readLine()) != null) {
text += line+"\n";
}
bufferReader.close();
}catch(Exception e){
System.out.println("Error while reading file line by line:" + e.getMessage());
}
line = null;
return text;
}
public static void main(String args[]) {
System.out.println(loadFileToString("d:\\temp\\Final.txt"));
return;
}
}
This plug-in can be used to load a file into the Jubula variable that is later used in the test. We test the plug-in before using it. Into the selected directory, in our case d:\temp directory, we will prepare the Final.txt file with the text that we want to load using this plug-in. We perform the plug-in test using the static main() method that is included in the ReadFileFunctionEvaluator class. We first validate the plug-in functionality in the debug mode. After the successful check, we will run the code as Java application by using the Run→Run As Java Application command. In the "Console" view we should see the content of the loaded file.
After successfully testing the loadFileToString() method, we exclude the main() method from the ReadFileFunctionEvaluator class.
Due to the Jubula internal mechanism, each extension function, implemented as a plug-in, is performed at least twice. First time during initialization and then in the test. But this is other story.

I wrote a simple HTML-File and ran simple HTTP Preview Server. When I refreshed my Browser I realised that it can take up to 15 Seconds until I see my new output? Does the HTTP Preview Server has a refresh time and when yes, where can I change id? Why is this so? Does anybody know? I was confused because I expected to see an immediate change.

Hi everyone. I have been working a JavaFX project with Eclipse Oxigen, but I decided to try using Eclipse Photon. Now besides FXML editor is working as expected, and I can invoke SceneBuilder from IDE, and I'm able to compile and run my app, I have this side effect at CSS editor (CSS editor keep showing warnings and context is not working).

I'm using e(fx)clipse version 3.3.0, running Eclipse Photon and Project with Oracle JDK 8 (also using JFoenix, ControlsFX, Ikonli). The app is not using maven.

My environment is: Fedora 27 / KDE

I think maybe there is something in my configuration which is causing this, or I'm missing a lib. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Edu

P.S. As a side question, at this time, is it possible to use e(fx)clipse with JDK 10?
