I am a ECF newbie and have just implemented a Remote Service using the zookeeper and the generic connection. I noticed in the log that the disconnects and reconnects on a regular basis probably due to a timeout. Can the timeout be disabled, or do I need to create a heartbeat to keep it from occurring.

Thank you,

Greg

Hi Greg,

There are several timeouts...some associated with the zookeeper discovery provider (for discovery), and some associated with the generic provider. Most (if not all) of these can be changed/specified...either at runtime, or via a configuration property.

We have a page of some of these properties, for some of the providers here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/EIG:Configuration_Properties

I've added a link to this page here so it's more easily accessible: http://wiki.eclipse.org/ECF#OSGi_Remote_Services

Unfortunately this is not complete...as it doesn't include all the specifics about runtime customization of these values, and I will try to dedicate some time specifically to making it more complete...particularly for the ECF generic provider. I will try to get some more of these in place for ECF 3.6 (release in early march 2013).

If you have specific desires for configuration/customization of these providers, that is not currently addressed by the above pages...I would appreciate it if you would ask about those specific here...or better yet, on the ECF mailing list...if you are willing to join:

https://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/ecf-dev

All of the ECF committers monitor that mailing list (more frequently than this forum), so if you are willing to join...and/or contribute documentation...it would be helpful.

Thanks Greg
