Add Java run button to other perspectives? [message #270787] Wed, 13 May 2009 20:08 Go to next message

I have installed BIRT for eclipse. When I switch to the reporting
perspective the Java "Run as..." button disappears. I know it does not make
much sense to run a java application when in the reporting perspective. But
is it somehow possible to add this button anyway to the reporting
perspective so I can run my run configurations even though I am in the
reporting perspective?

Window -> Customize perspective... -> Toolbar Visibility
should do the trick for you.

When I open Window -> Customize perspective I get a box with two panes:
Shortcuts and Commands. Neither of these panes contains anything called
ToolBar Visibility.

My bad. Apologies. I don't have BIRT and assumed the that this will work for all the perspectives.
Just check if there is something on interest in Shortcuts tab. Meanwhile, I will try and get BIRT
and check it if its possible there.

Use the Commands tab and select Launch. This should add Run/Debug buttons
to your toolbar.

Ankur,
You're talking about the 3.5 version of the Customize Perspective
dialog; I suspect mlt is using 3.4, which is significantly different.

mlt, Dave's advice should be exactly what you need for Eclipse 3.4
(Ganymede), while Ankur's is for 3.5 (Galileo).

Hope this helps,
Eric
