Hello,

I hope you can give me some advice.

I have an amd64 running gentoo linux, 2.6.3 kernel.
I have the Blackdown 1.4.2 jre and jdk.
I have downloaded eclipse 2.1.3 and unzipped it, when I try ./eclipse it
responds with 'No such file or directory'
I have downloaded the 2.1.2 source and compiled it and I get the same
message

Hi Leigh,

I'm not sure if this would account for the "No such file or directory"
messages, but eclipse 2.1.3 will definitely not run on amd64. There have
recently been 64-bit builds made in the 3.0 stream, so try
ftp://download.eclipse.org/I-I20040407-200404071337/eclipse- SDK-I20040407-linux-gtk-amd64.zip
and follow up if this still does not work for you (note that this port is a
little unstable compared to the 32-bit equivalent).

This is very strange. Maybe you don't have permissions with the user you
are trying to execute it with??
