We have Jubula project that works on Oracle DB. Oracle DB works on 16-core server with 6 hdd in raid5. Size of exported project in xml - 125mb.
Refresh of project (testsuite browser - right click - Refresh) takes about 2, 2.30 min.
The same refresh made on the same project placed on H2 db takes only 10 sec.
So, how can we improve the Jubula performance on Oracle db? Should we move our db to ssd (if 6 hdd in raid5 not enough), or should we ask our sys administrators to insert indexing to DB with our jubula project?..

Well, this looks really strange. Normally the Oracle storage is way faster than H2 for large projects.

Possible (but not likely) causes:
* The DB instance is not configured for large data. We have had really bad performance before we increased the working area of the Oracle instance.
* You have a bad network connection to the DB server.
* There is a lot of other stuff going on in the DB instance.
* You have an outdated version of Jubula.

Throwing hardware at this problem is not likely to help since it is not typical behaviour for Jubula.

If you are allowed to share the project we might check it out during our performance improvement cycle.

Thank you for reply.

-What do you mean? Tablespace or Block Sizes for Tablespaces or something else? From what size have you increased? What size was after increase?

tested by copy from nfs - about 20MB/sec insted of 5mBit/sec by Jubula.

-Jubula is alone on that server.

-Jubula ver 1.3.0 and 1.2.1

After doing some checks we ran into a similar looking problem (which might be the same). Can you check if the generated indexes (PI_NODE_GUID would be fine) are actually populated. We found that for an (as of now) unknown reason the generated indexes might not be maintained by the db. Rebuilding them manually fixes the performance problems.

We'll keep you posted.

After all indexing and changing in db with our admins we had incresed performance, and refresh took 1:40 instead of 2:40.
Now I have tried GUIDancer on my local slow virtualbox, and refresh has taken about 1 min!
Then we moved from distant vm to new local on very fast hardware that placed near the oracle db. We made clear install of Jubula 1.3 and now refresh taking only 20 sec. Win!
So it's looks like we had problems in:
-wrong jre (6 or 7 java, we have to investigate).
-problems in our network.
-unclean environments after old versions of Jubula, Eclipse and oracle drivers.
-20 sec Jubula placed on WinServer 2008 and our 2:40 min Jubulas placed on our Win7 laptops. Maybe problem in OS.
