Hello,

If I create a new XML file with "File > New > Other... > XML" and choose
"Create XML File from an XML Schema file" I have never the change to
set the encoding of the newly created file. By default the encoding is
set to "null". This makes it impossible to edit this new XML file in the
XML editor unless you change the encoding manually through the file
properties. I am using WST 0.7.0.

Regards,
Iwan

Does your schema file have an encoding? What was the encoding selected in
Preferences -> XML Files ->Creating files ->Encoding

Hi Iwan,

I tested this on my installation of WTP 0.7 and the encoding value of
generated XML is set to UTF-8, and this is the default encoding value the
generator uses. Can you check again? Try "eclipse -clean" to see if this
helps.

Along with this, there is a general issue on what is a best way to capture
the user's encoding preference in the generated output files. The
generator could use the encoding value from the Preference settings, could
use the value of the input XML Schema file, or have the user provide one
through a dropdown list or something similar. I'd like to hear your
opinion on this.

Hi Kihup,

Sorry for the noise... Just noticed that I still use an integration
build of wst 0.7 (July 13). Works as expected in the 0.7 stable release.
To your question: I think taking the encoding from the preference is a
good way to find out the default encoding. Maybe the encoding could be
taken from the general preference for text files (Preferences > General
> Editors > Text File Encoding).

e.

Oddly enough, this kind of noise sounds nice every now and then :)
