I can't associate webtools JSP Editor any of files except for *.jsp
(default file type)

I can't associate webtools JSP Editor any of files (example: *.cgi, *.inc)
except for *.jsp (default)
JSP Editor associating goes correctly, but in fact, during file editing
it's syntax doesn't get identified as jsp syntax.

Configuration:
OS: Linux Debian Sid 2.6.11
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4.2_05
eclipse 3.1M6 or eclipse 3.1M7
WTP 1.0M4 (stable) or wtp-I20050603
GEF-SDK-3.1M6
JEM-SDK-I20050415
emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-I200504141117

My actions:

Window -> Preferens -> General -> Editors -> File Associations
File types:
add *.cgi

Associated Editors:
add JSP Editor (webtools)

Create in current workspace test.cgi and type for example:
<%System.out.%>

syntax highlighting is off :(
code completion (<Ctrl>+<Tab>) is off :(

PS. If I remove Window -> Preferens -> General -> Editors -> File
Associations -> File types: -> *.jsp and open or create any jsp file,
syntax highlighting and code completion will be all the same active.

I think, that actually, webtools JSP Editor is registered statically with
*.jsp and consequently cannot leave or be renominated.
As a result of subquality work or a mistake, I do not know.
Thanks for the help!

This is a known bug .
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=83309
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=90381
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=81710
It seems it has been fixed in head, but did not make it in the M4
milestones, from what I can see.

The proposed (immediate) workaround is (quoting) :
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=81710#c6
"Yes, as a workaround you can append your filename extension to the
file-extensions attribute of this tag from
org.eclipse.jst.jsp.core/plugin.xml:

<content-type
file-extensions="jsp,jspf,jsf,jsv,jtpl,jspx,tag,tagf"
priority="high"
name="%JSP_Content_Type_Extension_Element.name"
id="jspsource"
base-type="org.eclipse.core.runtime.text"
default-charset="ISO-8859-1">
<describer

class=" org.eclipse.jst.jsp.core.internal.contenttype.ContentDescrib erForJSP "
/>
</content-type>"
