Hi all,

I'm interested in deploying BIRT engine into our web app without using
viewer example servlet. What's not so clear to me (after reading birt's
doc) is how this can be done. Can I just put some birt jars files together
with the dependencies (and some other resources - js) in my app's
WEB-INF/lib? Or is using the viewer servlet better alternative? What are
pros and cons?

Thanx,
V.

Vladimir,

The viewer servlet handles parameters and displaying the html output. You
can write your own. We have an example of that in the examples section,
under integration the dynamic parameters. With future releases of BIRT the
viewer servlet will become more complex, ie handling cascading and dynamic
parameters, so using the existing one may offer more benefits in the long
run. To use the current one, download the standalone engine and deploy the
birt.war file.
