I am using eclipse helios.Installed the latest ECF plugin.

I could start the server using eclipse.exe -console -application org.eclipse.ecf.server.generic.Server.

I am following the instructions in http://wiki.eclipse.org/ECF_Servers page.

I tried to start to server with a different port ( I used the one in the page eclipse.exe -console -application org.eclipse.ecf.provider.AppGenericServer 3285 mygroup ecf.eclipse.org 20000 )

Is there another way to start the server with a different port and group , with eclipse.exe -application command ?

Thanks and regards,

Aykut Yararbas

Hi Aykut,

I assume you use an ECF version newer than 2.0. Thus the application cmd
line parameter is named "org.eclipse.ecf.server.generic.Server" instead
of "org.eclipse.ecf.provider.AppGenericServer".

Hi Markus,

Thanks a lot for your comment.

I tried ;

eclipse.exe -console -application org.eclipse.ecf.server.generic.Server 3285 mygroup

And once again 3282 ;

osgi> No support for IPv6 in jSLP yet (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/328074), ski
pping interface...
WARNING: Port 9278 already in use. This instance of R-OSGi is running on port 9279

ZooDiscovery> Discovery Service Activated. Jan 4, 2011 4:11:59 PM.
Generic server started with id=ecftcp://localhost:3282/server

Thanks and regards,

Hi Aykut,

I assume you want to change the ECF generic provider port from 3282 to
something different. This can be done by setting the system property
"org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.port" to the new value.

Hi Markus,

It works Smile

c:\eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64\eclipse\plugins>java -Dorg.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.port=3333 -jar org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.1.0.v20100507.jar -cons

Generic server started with id=ecftcp://localhost:3333/server

Thanks,

How can I set the group ?

Hi Markus ,

Here I found the parameters from your comment to a bug.

-Dorg.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.name="/mygroup"

Be careful to start the group name with '/'.

c:\eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64\eclipse\plugins>java -Dorg.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.port=3333 -Dorg.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.name="/mygroup" -jar or
g.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.1.0.v20100507.jar -console -application org.eclipse.ecf.server.generic.Server

osgi> No support for IPv6 in jSLP yet (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/328074), skipping interface...
WARNING: Port 9278 already in use. This instance of R-OSGi is running on port 9279
ZooDiscovery> Discovery Service Activated. Jan 5, 2011 10:12:33 AM.
Generic server started with id=ecftcp://localhost:3333/mygroup

c:\eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64\eclipse\plugins>

See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=326841

Parameters are ;
org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.host ("localhost")
org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.name ("/server")
org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.scheme ("ecftcp")
Int:
org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.port (3282)
org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.keepalive (30000)

Comment 1Markus Alexander Kuppe 2010-10-02 09:06:24 EDT
Additionally "org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.host.useHostName=true"
overwrites "org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.host" with
InetAddress.getLocalHost().getCanonicalHostname() iff set

Hi Markus,

I mentioned org.eclipse.ecf.provider.generic.name ("/server") name attribute as group.

I found the parameter. See my previous comment.

Thanks and kind regards for your help.
It really resolved my issues.
