Hi,

I have been able to successfully configure and run the OSEE client and server 0.7.1 and have been trying to integrate the components for OSEE 0.9.1.

The existing setup with 0.7.1 already has a postgresql data base configured for OSEE and initialised.

I have downloaded all the packages required for OSEE 0.9.1 and have launched the server, but i do not see the server getting any connection pool size from the database.

When i launch the client the following errors occur:
1. Reason: http://xyz:8089/osee/session?operation=create

Hi Kumar,

There are some changes to the database organisation between 0.7 and 0.9. This means that you cannot just take a 0.7 database and use the 0.9 application server with it.

It is not clear to me from your post whether you have just a test database initialised for 0.7 or if you have real data you want to migrate.

If the former, the best thing will be to just re-initialise the database using the 0.9 application server.

If the latter, there are a number of steps that you will need to go through. We can get into the detail later if this is what you need to do.

All the best,

Mark

Hello Mark,

Thank you for the repsonse. I have been working on the test database of 0.7 version. As suggested by you I have tried re-initialising the test data base with
eclipse -nosplash -application
org.eclipse.osee.framework.database.configClient -console -vmargs
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Xmx512m

but got and errror
!MESSAGE Application error

java.lang.RuntimeException: Application "org.eclipse.osee.framework.database.configClient" could not be found in the registry.

Probably the configClient was meant for 0.7 version only...

I also tried using:
eclipse -nosplash -application org.eclipse.osee.framework.database.init.configClient -console -vmargs -XX:MaxPe
rmSize=256m -Xmx512m -Dosee.application.server=http://localhost:8089 -Dosee.authentication.protocol=trustAll

this step passes the OSEE Application Server Validation [PASSED]

but i got the following error log:

I have a postgresql database running on the windows machine and all the 3 database, client and server are on the same machine. I am aslo using a connection.xml to specify the postgresql database connection.

Please let me know if I am using the right command to re-intialize the database.

Best regards,
Kumar

Hi Kumar,

The command for initialisation has changed and I updated the FAQ ( http://wiki.eclipse.org/OSEE/Users_Guide/Getting_Started#Dat abase_Initialization) a few weeks ago to indicate that.

You worked out correctly the command that needs to be used for 0.9 so I suspect that isn't the reason for your error. It may be worth trying the command without the trustAll element so that you are exactly replicating what I know normally works just in case that causes a problem.

What does the application server window show when you get the error please?

All the best,

Mark

Hello Mark,

As suggested by you i tried the initialisation without trust all element and ended up in error.

For server launch "plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_<VersionForYourEclipse >.jar" has been suggested in the OSEE site but it cannot be found in the server package. Instead I am using the "org.eclipse.osgi.jar"
One other observation is that when the server launches i do not see a log of it fetching the Postgresql data pool size as it happens with 0.7 version.

Is there a way to find out if the server has completed the launch successfully?

Find below the server window log:

E:\OSEE\Server>java -Dorg.osgi.service.http.port=8089 -Dosee.check.tag.queue.on.startup=true -Dosee.db.connection.id=postgresq
lLocalhost -jar org.eclipse.osgi.jar -console

Sorry Kumar, I have been unable to replicate your problem. I think it is going to take one of the developers to understand what is happening.

The only possible suggestion I can make is that one of our client machines was reporting the java.lang.IllegalStateException: STREAM error when a disk corruption had occurred. Reinstalling the client from the zip file solved that problem.

All the best,
Mark

I installed OSEE 0.9.1 and it works fine without any problems. The database initialization prompts were acting a bit funny though. However, it initialized correctly after few attempts.

Here are the commands I used to initialize and start OSEE.

OSEE application server

java -Dosee.log.default=INFO -Declipse.ignoreApp=true -Dorg.osgi.service.http.port=8089 -Dosgi.compatibility.bootdelegation=true -Xms40m -Xmx512m -Dosee.db.connection.id=postgresqlLocalhost -Dosee.application.server.data="c:\OSEE\0.9.1\Data" -Dequinox.ds.debug=true -jar org.eclipse.osgi.jar -console

Database initialization

eclipse -nosplash -application org.eclipse.osee.framework.database.init.configClient -console -vmargs -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Xmx512m -Dosee.application.server=http://localhost:8089

Client
eclipse -nl en -vmargs -Xmx512m -Dosee.application.server=http://localhost:8089 -Dosee.authentication.protocol=trustALL -consoleLog

Thanks to OSEE team for the new releases.

Kumar - do you have any internationalisation settings, such as use of , rather than . for decimal point?

Dear Kumar,

OSEE 0.9.4 is now available. Because the database is not compatible with 0.9.1, I have needed to initialise a 0.9.4 database to allow import.

When the app server is started and before the init has bee run, repeated exceptions of the following form occur. This is normal because the database has no tables in it yet:

SEVERE org.eclipse.osee.framework.database.internal.core.OseeDataba seServiceImpl runBatchUpdate (155)
This is the nested exception
org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: relation "osee_server_lookup" does not exist

I then ran the init (option 1, to allow a test to be done on the client before using option 0 to import my real database). At the end of the init, on the server side, the following two exceptions were reported. However, stopping and restarting the application server yielded a functioning OSEE.
