It would be helpful to formulate your topic as a question and to tell us how far you got or what you tried already.

1. Build your class diagram (at least one class)
2. In the outline view, right click on the class that should get behaviour defined with a state diagram
3. Select "Add a diagram -> Create a new state machine diagram", the new SM diagram opens
4. Select StateMachine in the palette
5. Click or click-drag into the state machine diagram to position the state machine
6. Start entering states and transitions into the state machine

regards

Sorry, coming from Papyrus UML and not realizing the difference to MDT Papyrus at first, I answered based on my Papyrus UML knowledge.

If you are trying to do this with MDT Papyrus, this may be different. (can somebody else clarify?)

regards

Hi all,

for MDT Papyrus, this will be available through the requirement diagram
and through the SysML callout mechanism. Currently the SysML profile is
not available (under construction). First SysML diagrams (BDD, IBD)
should be available in january. Requirement diagram will come later
(march) as part of the Helios M6 milestone.

For the moment the state-machine diagram is still in development ;-)

Hi guys,

are there some news about state-machine-diagram support?

Unfortunately the UML2 GMF tools seem not to be included in Helios at all (I cannot even find them in the update site).

Though I'm really interested in the papyrus editor for state machines in UML2.

Is there any date? Do I have to use Galileo and the UML2 tools for now?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hi Chris,

the statemachine diagram is not yet part of the nightly build, but you
can test current status by installing Papyrus (Helios Modeling bundle +
install Modeling components) and downloading the statemachine diagram
plugin on the svn serveur here :
http://dev.eclipse.org/svnroot/modeling/org.eclipse.mdt.papy rus/trunk/plugins/uml/org.eclipse.papyrus.diagram.statemachi ne

We are still working on it and it will be included in Papyrus 1st
release planned to be delivered around mid-july.

regards,

Yann

Hi Yann,

thanks for your quick reply.

I tested the svn-trunk version of the state machine editor but in my installation I have problems loading previously saved models. I'm sure you're working on it and I'm really looking forward to the 1st release in the next days.

Best regards,
Chris

P.s.: Editing seems much more beautiful compared to the uml2 tools Smile

Hi again,

I found the state machine editor to be part of the new Papyrus release. This is great!! :)

However, I need some advice how to add a makro-state (i.e., add a Region to a state in order to add hierarchy and parallelism)?
It somehow seems not to be possible in my installation.

Thanks,
Chris
