How to not use workspace metadata [message #215377] Sat, 14 June 2008 01:32 Go to next message

I have a virgin installation of tomcat 5.5, and all I want is for a
Dynamic Web Project to publish the war into the existing webapps directory
of that Tomcat instance. When I double click on the Tomcat runtime, I see
the buttons where I get to select "Use Tomcat Installation". But
everything is grayed out and it doesn't let me make the changes.

How can I make the changes?

I've burned an entire day on trying just to get this working, to no avail.
All I want Eclipse to do is edit code and build my war files. I do not
want it to mess with my application server configuration other than to
deploy applications to webapp directory.

The line at the top of the Server Locations section states "Server must
be published with no modules present to make changes." So remove any
projects from the server and then publish the server and these options
become enabled.

Cheers,

I've tried to locate where to remove the projects from the server, but the
only time that dialog comes up is when creating web projects and choosing
a server. I've tried the project properties, and I've tried the
preferences > Servers menu path as well.

I finally deleted the project entirely, and the options were still grayed
out.

Never mind my last post. The process worked, but I ended up deleting the
project and re-importing it.
