but I do not seem to find an way to create them. Is the
problem that Trac does not support them (I am using Trac) or was
this a concept that dissappeared and the document I was reading
was old or am I missing something.

Steffen Pingel (Trac Connector component owner) is currently traveling
and I have not heard of Trac support subtasks. If they don't support
it, the best thing to do is probably to file a bug against Trac (if you
would like to see such support) and once they add it file a bug against
Mylyn.
