Project Facet problem [message #182170] Fri, 03 November 2006 21:06 Go to next message

Hi,
I'm having a problem I hope you can help with. I have Eclipse set up and
using Java 5 as the base implementation. I have some projects that are
using Java 5, but one that is using Java 1.4. If I set this project up as
a "Dynamic Web Project" in the system, it automatically adds the "Java"
facet with version "5.0". This is fine and dandy, until I change my
compiler compliance level (Project->Properties->Java Compiler). Now the
Project has the Big Red X and the Errors view shows: "Java compiler level
does not match the version of the installed Java project facet."

How can I fix this?

I have searched through many logical areas of the Preferences and all the
online documentation I could find was about how to create a new facet.

Thanks in advance,
topher

Try Project Properties -> Project Facets. Hit Add/Remove Facets and you
will be able to change the version of the java facet in that screen.

Alternatively, the problem marker that you are seeing has quick fixes
available...

Unfortunately, the "Java" facet is locked and won't allow removal or
editing.

Other ideas?

Hi Konstantin,
Apologies for not seeing your point about the quick fixes before my last
post. Looking back at your answer allowed me to fix the problem.

Thanks a lot!

No problem. While you cannot remove the java facet, you can change it's
version by clicking on the version field. I know it's kinda hard to know
that that field is editable. We are working on that.
