Hey Guys,

I am working with eclipse kepler and emf on Win7.

I´ve done some tutorials to get used to Modeling with EMF.
Yesterday there was suddenly an error while typing an Method for saving XMI-Models, there was a point where I was not able to write an "(" any more. The combination of "shift+8" did´nt function any more, just the key "ctrl+shift+8" worked.

Instead of setting an "(" eclipse showed me an list of key bindings refered to "shift+8" combinations.

So I checked if there was any option in the preferences -> keys to bind the "(" to the key combination "shift+8", also I started my eclipse version with different "command line options" like -clean, -nl de_DE, ... to ensure there is no cache or lang error.

Furthermore I resetted my preferences to default and then tried also another eclipse.

Today i spotted that if i switch my workspace (new test-Workspace) where no .ecore models are, I am able to set the "(" character, but every time I switch back to my Tutorial-Workspace there is the same error.

I hope someone can help me with this curios error ... Crying or Very Sad , because I´m trying to fix this problem since two days and there is nothing to find about my problem in the WWW.

Thx

The EMF-newbie

Dominik,

I'm not sure what to say. EMF doesn't do anything with global key
bindings and I've never seen such a problem, though I am working with
Kepler these days. I can't imagine such a problem is in any way
related to EMF. If a fresh workspace doesn't have the problem, create a
fresh one and import all your projects from the old workspace into your
new one.

Maybe, your keyboard scheme changes on specific key combinations that your OS uses. Just check your language/keyboard settings if that happens again...
