I am currently developing a plugin that needs to check certain requirements during startup (after I click "run As -> Eclipse Application"), namely if a server with a socket on a certain port is running. If the server is not running the eclipse starup process should be aborted.
What I am currently doing is trying to connect to the socket in the start() method of the plugin's Activator, but no matter what I do when the expected UnknownHostException is thrown the eclipse instance finishes its startup.
Can anyone please help and tell me how to abort the startup of the second eclipse instance???
Thanks for any help.
