Terminate plugin on startup [message #1100154]

Hey all

I am currently developing a plugin that needs to check certain requirements during startup (after I click "run As -> Eclipse Application"), namely if a server with a socket on a certain port is running. If the server is not running the eclipse starup process should be aborted.

What I am currently doing is trying to connect to the socket in the start() method of the plugin's Activator, but no matter what I do when the expected UnknownHostException is thrown the eclipse instance finishes its startup. Sad

Can anyone please help and tell me how to abort the startup of the second eclipse instance???
