After I install the AJDT 2.2.3 on Rational Software Archtect, every Editor displays the error: Plug-in org.eclipse.jdt.ui was unable to load class org.eclipse.jdt.internal.ui.javaeditor.CompilationUnitEditor
I am using the Rational Software Architect 9 with Eclipse 4.2.2. Used the link (http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ajdt/42/update) to install the AJDT.
Searching on the web I found this:http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/74968/), but removing the Data Tools did not work for me.
I also updated the Data Tools to 1.10.2, and yet not working.

Can anybody help me? Here is the details stack :

I have not seen this error before. Please try disabling JDT weaving (in Preferences -> JDT weaving, must restart).

Also, which JRE version are you using?

The JDT weaving is already disabled, and I can't enable it. I press the button, the Eclipse restarts, but it remains disabled.
Another point: I was searching for the installed JRE in preferences, but when I click Preferences -> Java I got an error: "An error has occurred when creating this preference page." And when I try the "Installed JRE's I got a popup: "Unable to create the selected preference page. An error occurred while automatically activating bundle org.eclipse.jdt.debug.ui(1537)"
Another thing I am not sure if it is clear. The Editors I was mentioning were the Java File Editor, The Package Explorer, the Java View. I tryed to open an .xml file and it seems to work fine.
Thanks for your attention.

Here is a picture of the eclipse error tab (perhaps it may help):

There is definitely something odd going on. When it is not possible to enable jdt weaving, that typically means something is wrong with Eclipse's configuration. Can you attach you .log file here? Not a screenshot, but the entire log file. Best to do this:

1. clear the log (press red X)
2. restart and open the preference page that produces the error.
3. export the log file
4. attach it here

Thanks for the error log. I see a few problems. First, it looks like you are using the J9 JVM. Equinox weaving and aspectj *should* work on J9, but we don't actually have any tests for that, so something may have broken. Two suggestions:

1. use a Hotspot JVM instead
2. force-disable equonox weaving:
a. open eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info (after first making a backup)
b. look for the lines for the bundles org.eclipse.equinox.weaving.* and delete them.
c. restart eclipse and equinox weaving should be disabled permanently.
You will see an error at startup, but you can ignore that. Also, most of the advanced editing functionality of AJDT will be disabled.

Regardless, I'd recommend that you raise a bug report with AspectJ since there may be a problem with the compiler. Do so here: https://bugs.eclipse.org/

Hi Andrew
Thanks for your help.
I can't use the Hotspot JVM at work (only the J9 JVM), so I tryed the second option and it seems to work (I was able to open the editors). I haven't yet tryed to compile my project using aspects, since I am still configuring my environment but once I do that I will post here.
I also raised the bug repord: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=414487

Thanks for raising the bug report. Compilation should not be affected, but editing will. You may be getting misleading error markers in your editors and you will not be able to see the affects of intertype declarations. Also, you will not be able to see aspects in the "Open type declaration" dialog or in search results.

It is my first time to use this site, I hope I use it correctly

I have the same AJDT issue.

I am using RAD 8.0.4.2 and WAS 6.1.
After I installed AJDT ((http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ajdt/43/update), I was searching for the installed JRE in preferences, but when I click Preferences -> Java I got an error: "An error has occurred when creating this preference page." And when I try the "Installed JRE's I got a popup: "Unable to create the selected preference page. An error occurred while automatically activating bundle org.eclipse.jdt.debug.ui(1448)"

I also tried force-disable equonox weaving, but it is not working.

Here is my error log. Please help!!!!!!

It looks like something got messed up on install. Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling? Also, answer the following questions:

1. Do you have write access to the Eclipse install location?
2. Do you have the ScalaIDE installed or any other language development tools?

You can also force disabling of JDT weaving by going to Eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info and look for the line org.eclipse.equinox.weaving.aspectj. Change 'true' to 'false'. This will prevent Equinox weaving for AspectJ from being auto-started.
