Hi,

A team in my company was given access to git [private] repository. One of their user had access to that private repository with 'read-only' option. He tried to commit & push using egit plugin available in the eclipse. It started to open the connection but does not report any error telling that the user had only read-only access/he will not be able to push message, in the eclipse. I helped them to configure & commit-push sequence. They were using ubuntu environment. I think this is a bug.
