I am running 'Indigo' on ubuntu 12.04.
In preparation to installing a plugin for ADT, I thought that updating the IDE would be wise. However it fails with:
Error reading update site
The XML stream is not a valid default "site.xml" file. The root tag is not site.

Is the ubuntu version of indigo at fault?

The link that you have posted is referencing a CVS repository of the Eclipse Foundation, if the directory in this CVS repository is/was an update site (if it's not, it never could have worked) you have a problem since CVS is not used anymore in the Eclipse Foundation since all projects have switched to Git (with mirrors on Github).

While it is true that all projects that were using CVS have switched to Git, or have been retired, there are still projects using SVN.
