Folks,

I was simply trying to import my WAR file into my project space
using Dynamic Web Projects and in the J2EE perspective but I
was not able to use Dynamic Web Project -> Import -> WAR File
after clicking the Next button. No dialog box appears at all. Testing
revealed that App Client JAR, EAR JAR, EAR JAR, And EJB JAR
also exhibit the same response - nothing.

Yes, I have everything installed from Eclipse 3.1, WTP 0.7, and in fact I
started with JBOSS M4 Eclipse and upated everything inclucing adding
more features, got Tomcat, JBOSS AS, and Sun AS all working fine.

Did I miss something somewhere?

Kind regards,
Dan

Ok, I figured it out. The solution is to use the WTP bundle and everything
works out of the box. Apparently the one I grabbed from JBoss somehow
does not work right (J2EE) and perhaps the various pieces of needed support
was missing, dunno.

Not sure it works in the jejb project..

Lets eliminate the obvious..

When you started the servers and Eclipse you did go into the add serves wizard in Eclipse and define the JBoss and Sun servers, correct?

Actually, here was the process I followed:

1) Downloaded and unziped installed JBosssIDE,M2 release to my drive
2) Setup my workspace location where my existing projects were (this
could be a mistake, potentially destroying my .metadata area?)
3) Immediately updated versions using Update Manager.
4) Manually added support for JBoss 4.2 and Sun JAS 8.0 so that it was ready
to use.
a) Tested the above AS by adding this using the 'Servers' wizard, and
initially had
a hellava time getting start/stop to work. After tinkering with this
for a full day,
it *somehow* started working. (I was learning how to add this manually
in the
server definition area and boy... what a chore!! WTP developers need
to think
of an adaptor approach and redesign - it is surely an awful approach!)
5) Added the J2EE perspectives to my perspective toolbar
6) Selected: J2EE perspective
7) Tried to add a 'Dynamic Web Project'
a) New Project did not work
b) WAR, App Client, EAR, EJB did not work.

So - I am not sure what the underlying cause is. Just that it did not work.
Please note
that I downloaded JBossIDE,M2 from the download page as as far as I can
tell, there
was no mention of a 'Oh you grabbed the wrong JBossIDE plugin pack' which
confuses
me! Can you clarify this comment?

In suspecting JBossIDE to be the problem, I grabbed the WTP v0.7 (all in
one)
bundle, installed it, did the above steps, and all the stuff worked out of
the box.

So, all I can tell is 'something is not quite right with the JBoss IDE, M2'
but then again, it is a M2 release... and again perhaps I am missing the
"upgrade plugin pack"?

Thanks for responding!
Dan
