What is the appropriate way to configure eclipselink in the startup of a Tomcat inside Eclipse?

I've tried to set this up and I have configured an javaagent on the startup of Tomcat, but I suspect that because the actual entity classes are part of a webapp inside Tomcat, these are not detected by the agent.

I believe you need to use static weaving with Tomcat, unless you use Spring.

That could be right; it certainly explains the lack of Eclipselink debug lines on the console. I'll give embedded Tomcat a go, see how that works out.

I can confirm that when Tomcat is started embedded than Eclipselink's javaagent finds the entity classes and correctly post-processed them on the fly.
