Here is the stack trace of the exception when I try to load the model.

I am not sure what is causing this error. When I looked into CopiedResourceDescription class (Line no 71). The method is

public Iterable<QualifiedName> getImportedNames() {
// TODO see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=344373
IllegalStateException exception = new IllegalStateException("getImportedNames "+getURI());
log.error(exception, exception);
return Collections.emptyList();
// throw new UnsupportedOperationException("getImportedNames()");
}

seems like the method is intended to throw this exception Sad wonder why?

Please let me know any directions or inputs to get rid of these. Thanks.

And I am not sure if the below problem is also related something to what I have given.

When I try to do Find References (CTRL + SHIFT + G), eclipse throws this exception. I am not sure If I have missed anything. Thanks for helping me in resolving these two issues.

Hello, the problem reported here is still open for us (Sreekanth SC works with me), after upgrading to 2.3.1:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: getReferenceDescriptions platform:/resource/pms-models/domain/datasets/formats/performance/performance.domain
at org.eclipse.xtext.builder.clustering.CopiedResourceDescription.getReferenceDescriptions(CopiedResourceDescription.java:79) ~[na:na]
at org.eclipse.xtext.ui.editor.findrefs.DefaultReferenceFinder.findIndexedReferences(DefaultReferenceFinder.java:210) [org.eclipse.xtext.ui_2.3.1.v201208161042.jar:na]
at org.eclipse.xtext.ui.editor.findrefs.DefaultReferenceFinder.findAllIndexedReferences(DefaultReferenceFinder.java:108) [org.eclipse.xtext.ui_2.3.1.v201208161042.jar:na]
at org.eclipse.xtext.ui.editor.findrefs.DefaultReferenceFinder.findAllReferences(DefaultReferenceFinder.java:100) [org.eclipse.xtext.ui_2.3.1.v201208161042.jar:na]
at org.eclipse.xtext.ui.editor.findrefs.ReferenceQuery.run(ReferenceQuery.java:73) [org.eclipse.xtext.ui_2.3.1.v201208161042.jar:na]
at org.eclipse.search2.internal.ui.InternalSearchUI$InternalSearchJob.run(InternalSearchUI.java:91) [org.eclipse.search_3.7.0.v20110928-1504.jar:na]
at org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.Worker.run(Worker.java:54) [org.eclipse.core.jobs_3.5.101.v20120113-1953.jar:na]

Please ignore the java.lang.NullPointerException at org.eclipse.emf.ecore.util.EcoreUtil.getURI(EcoreUtil.java:2913) initially posted - we have meanwhile found that to be a completely unrelated problem which we are dealing with separately.

What could cause this? Is this in any way related / similar to our discussion on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=326024. That was in the same area, but that problem works for us now - I just mean could this again because of a wrong Binding?

Or is it "correct" that there is CopiedResourceDescription? But then why does that implementation throw an IllegalStateException, with a comment "TODO see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=344373" in code (while that issue is actually RESOLVED FIXED 2.1.0 ?)

BTW: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=379641 seems to raise the same by the way.
