We are happy to announce the official Juno release of Dali Java Persistence Tools 3.2! This version of Dali provides tooling support for a number of EclipseLink features including Multitenancy and Dynamic Persistence. It also includes comprehensive JAXB mapping support with EclipseLink JAXB annotation extensions. XML Mapping File content assist provides another option for mapping file editing, and general Dali performance has been improved. All together, 76 enhancements were made and 153 bugs fixed since the Indigo release.

Check out these and other new features in the New and Noteworthy.

Dali 3.2 is available for immediate download via the Juno Java EE Package

Hi Neil,

In
http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/releases/3.4.0/NewAndNoteworthy/jpt.php
on "JPA Metadata Conversion", it shows "Java Converters..." in addition
to Queries and Generators, but I don't see Converters there. Was it
removed before the release, or do I need to change some setting to
enable it? I didn't notice any setting for it.

I've looked at it in the Java, JPA, and Java EE perspectives and it
displays the same across them all. I'm using Eclipse 4.2 Java EE,
showing Dali version 3.4.0.v201203150000.

Thanks,
Ari

Hi Ari,
It's not clear in the New and Noteworthy, but the metadata conversion of 'Java Converters' action is specific to EclipseLink. If your JPA provider is EclipseLink you can change your JPA platform to see that menu item. It moves the following annotations to xml:
org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.Converter(s)
org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.TypeConverter(s)
org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.ObjectTypeConverter(s)
org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.StructConverter(s)

Maybe after the 2.1 spec is released we will be able to add this functionality to the Generic JPA platform.

Thanks,
Karen

Thanks, Karen -- I just verified that. It would be good to know up
front what functionality is specific to a particular JPA provider -- is
this available somewhere?

I try to denote this information in the New and Noteworthy items but in this case it wasn't obvious what was EclipseLink vs Generic. The best place to find that type of information would be to look at the project plan and the referenced enhancements. The project plan breaks up EclipseLink specific functionality from Generic enhancements and the bugs themselves provide even more detail. In this case, the enhancement applied to both EclipseLink and Generic, so the enhancement would have been found in the EclipseLink section.

Project plan - http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?projectid=webtools.dali

Hope this helps,
Neil
