How can I start? [message #10610] Thu, 17 March 2005 13:01 Go to next message

Hello everybody,
I am a newbie at Hyades framework. I have downloaded Hyades 3.2.0 and
run it well on Linux SuSE 8 platform. As a starting point I have
downloaded all Hyades plug-ins and there are around 70 plugins extracted.
1. When I run the "URL Test Sample", which plug-ins are actually in
action ? For instance when I double-click the eclipseTest.testsuite,
there will be an editor opened on the workbench, with 3 tabfolders,
Overview, Http Requests and Behavior. Do these three tabfolders
correspond to certain plug-ins ?
2. I see also that some plug-ins have no extension and no
extension-points. The plug-in contains only *.jar file and is used only
for dependency for other plug-ins. Am I correct?
3. Where is the main plug-ins so that a newbie can start easily?

Thank you very much for any opinions.

Best regards,
Agustinus Tedja

Agustinus,

1. The URL Test Sample is a collection of assets that can be inspected
so that new users can "sample" URL Test without actually running one.

The creation of the sample project is handled by Eclipse functionality.
You can reference org.eclipse.hyades.ui.sample/plugin.xml to see the
details.

A good place to start to see what plugins are involved when you open a
testsuite is to look at org.eclipse.hyades.test.http/plugin.xml.

2. I'm not sure about this

3. The main plugins that comprise URL Test are:

-org.eclipse.hyades.test.http
-org.eclipse.hyades.execution.recorder
-org.eclipse.hyades.execution.recorder.http
-org.eclipse.hyades.execution.testgen
-org.eclipse.hyades.execution.testgen.http

Hello Agustinus,

For point #2, yes, this is true, for example
org.eclipse.hyades.test.common follows that role as you described (no
extensions or extension-points specified).
