HI all,

please help to understand the differences between the Papyrus eclipse plug-in and the stand alone version. The plug-in has the version 0.8 but the stand alone version is 1.12.3.

Which one is newer and which of them is more recommended to use?

Thanks,
Konstantin

Hello Konstantin,

You should use Eclipse Indigo (3.7.2) + MDT Papyrus (0.8.2).

Hi Camille,

Are you proposing to use the development version 0.8.2?

Thanks,
Konstantin

Hello Konstantin,

The stand-alone version (1.12.x) is deprecated, and is 3 or 4 years-old. When Papyrus migrated to an Eclipse project, it had to downgrade its version number to match the Incubation constraint (Version < 1.0.0). 0.8.2 is actually the latest and most stable release of Papyrus (February 2012).

Hello Konstantin,

if you need to generate code,

1) standalone has some templates for C & C++ but
1.1) these you must maintain yourself,
1.2) used acceleo version is an older one than what is current today, so old and awful jet-like template format is hard to follow

2) plugin version is an eclipse project, currently there is no code generation templates for papyrus plugin bundle.

If you'd like to generate documents from the models, as far as i know, this topic is not addressed in the plugin version.

I hope this helps. Smile
