I'm trying to run guest book GWT demo project with little success.

I run the project starts but when I try to submit the page I get the following error.
"
Remote Procedure Call - Failure
Sending name to the server
GWT User

Server replies
An error occurred while attempting to contact the server.
Please check your network connection and try again.
"
I'm running the project locally

This is a printout of the console

I was getting the same error as you. I found a site that had a solution that worked for me: java . dzone . com/articles/javalangverifyerror-expecting

You can either switch to JDK 6 (I haven't tried that one), or you can add a VM argument to your installed JRE. In Eclipse go to:
Window->Preferences->Java->Installed JREs then select the JRE you are using and click Edit. Add this VM argument to the Default VM Arguments text field:

-XX:-UseSplitVerifier

Another user also said there is a patch that fixes this for you, but I'm not familiar enough with Eclipse to know how to apply the patch. Here's the site though:
bugs . eclipse . org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=362591

(Sorry for the spaces in the links, apparently you have to post 25 messages before links are enabled in this forum.)

I'm running JDK 7, Eclipse (Indigo), and GWT 2.4.0. I just wanted to confirm that the above solution worked for me.

I added -XX:-UseSplitVerifier and it's working for me now.

Thanks for the help!
