Is it possible to have multiple stand-alone RCP applications using a single shared RCP?

Depends on what you mean under "single shared RCP". If you mean Eclipse RCP biniaries (called targets in this context) than yes, definitively. Although it is not recommended.

See http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse_RCP_How-to#Target, http://www.ralfebert.de/blog/eclipsercp/rcp_target/ or http://www.modumind.com/2009/09/01/creating-an-eclipse-rcp-target-platform/.
