Greetings,

I have existing birt reports that when I generate the excel output files (HTML) via the birt engine I don't get a default font and size type. The reason I ask is based upon the system font default (in this case windows) I can get different display results in xcel from system to system.

So how do I set a default font type and size in the report (outside of each field).

If you need more details please ask, I've included a sample output file which I hope helps.

Thank-you in advance for your help!

Have you tried changing the default pre-defined styles in the style editor?

Which predefine style controls the creation of the HTML tag of <STYLES> and <DEFAULT> for xcell generated output?

The reason being we're using another tool that needs to get the font style and size being used so it can pass the proper column width to our app. Without it they assume a default font style and size and calculate column width which is incorrect base upon the report design files.

Thank-you in advance for your help!

Michael

Look in the outline view and click on the styles node. Double click on
the report style and change the font to what you want.

Question: the file output for xcel generated by calling BIRT Engine (2.3.1) contains XML output(xcell 2003). We put an ".xls" extension on the output name so when someone opens it xcell reads and formats the columns correctly (28.95). I pass the same unaltered file to "the tool" to get column width it returns (37.43).

Now I take and save this file in xcel (2007) to .xls format pass it to "the tool" and it now returns (28.95) as column width (what I want). The tool owners state that since the XML output does not have a default font and size "the tool" assumes a default of "Ariel 10" as the bases for column width calculation.

o - Is there a way to set this in BIRT 2.3.1?

o - Does this change in BIRT 3.7?

I've tried to apply styles to the report but it has not effect.

Thank-you in advance for your help!

Mike,

Can you try this with 3.7? Be sure to set the report style font.
