[AGR] Could the AGR record in a fresh workbench? [message #86797] Fri, 10 November 2006 18:32 Go to next message

Hi All,

I'm somewhat new to the AGR. So far, the technology looks really good.

One of the first stumbling blocks I have run into is the difference
between the environment that I record my test cases in (my development
workbench) and the environment that the tests are finally run in (some
form of runtime workbench). So, in my case, the File->New->Project...
dialog auto-expands tree branches for types of projects I have already
created. In the test executiong environment, it is a fresh workspace so
none of the branches are auto-expanded.

I was just wondering if many of these sorts of problems wouldn't be
resolved by allowing me to record my test case in a fresh workbench?

Hi Chris,

Many users have stumbled on this problem (i.e. the failures caused by the
subtle differences between the workbench used to record the test case and
the workbench that is used to play the test case in). Unfortunately it's
very expensive to launch a workbench for every test case that is recorded.
I have opened the following defect:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=164197 regarding the
difference in the state of a tree in the recording workbench compared to the
context workbench.

Feel free to append any other situations you've hit that you think should
automatically be handled by the recorder.

Thanks,
Ali Mehregani
