Hi,

I am trying to get out test environment running under Linux ES Version 4
on Intel EM64T. I have installed Eclipse 3.2.1 and via the update
manager I have installed the latest release of TPTP and its dependents;
essentially 4.2.1.

I have found that running our AGR regression tests that have been
recorded under Windows XP hang.

I would like to check some basic conclusions that I have arrived at:

1. Release 4.2.1 of TPTP still uses the original Agent Controller not
the New Technology Agent Controller
2. The agent controller has not yet been ported to Linux EM64T, but
the new technology agent controller has been.
3. The Integrated Agent Controller does not work yet under Linux
EM64T. The preferences screen is grayed out.
4. Therefore it is pretty hopeless to test under Linux EM64T with the
current release of TPTP.

Are these conclusions accurate? If they are, when will Linux EM64T be
supported? Is it agreed for TPTP 4.3?

Thanks in advance,
Joel

I have quite different question: what package should I use to run Agent
Controler on Linux with AMD Athlon 64 processor?

Which Eclipse 3.2.1? x86? or x86_64?

True on Linux; not true on Windows.

For the agent controller itself, you're correct. Native logging is
ported, but not the probekit, LinuxAgent (perfmon), piAgent (profiler), etc.

The Linux-IA32 version of the IAC loaded and running in the Linux-IA32
version of Eclipse should work on EM64T ... assuming you're only doing
32-bit stuff. You're right that there is no port of the IAC to
Linux-EM64T yet.

Unless you want to run purely 32-bit stuff there. I know... not what
most would expect to run... but some people find it useful.

No, I think it fell of 4.3's plate, so to speak.

Sorry I had nothing more than information to offer!

If you're wanting to run LinuxAgent (perfmon) or profile 32-bit code,
you want to run the old RAC (tptpdc agent controller package) Linux-IA32
version there. If you're developing for a "new AC" protocol future, of
course you want the Linux-EM64T version of agntctrl.

Thanks Randy. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but then "The truth
shall set you free" and all that jazz :-)

To answer your question below, I am running 64 bit versions of everything.

Now if I get your gist correctly you are saying that if I installed a
32bit JVM and eclipse, then I would be able to develop, build and test
in 32 bit mode. Is that correct. If so, it is not exactly my preference,
but I could live with it for the time being.

Thanks,
Joel
