Hi Martin,

Thanks for the heads up - unfortunately I didn't see this until too late
to join your conference call.

We definitely have an interest in remote services. Off the top of my
head, there are at least five areas that are going to require some kind
of remote support:

1. building a parallel application - usually the application (and almost
always the libraries required to build the app) reside on a machine that
is different from that running Eclipse

2. launching a parallel application, which will almost always be on a
remote machine

3. debugging a parallel application on a remote machine

4. data collection for performance analysis and other kinds of tools

5. data management, in order to provide input data for an application
and collect output data after an application has completed

I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you in more detail.

Greg

Hi Greg,

it looks like you could use a lot of what we think to be working on. Please
join our group at news://news.eclipse.org/eclipse.technology.ecf and have a
look at the "Use Cases for Target Management" I've posted there. They
outline the sort of functionality we have in mind.

Let us know if you see any additional use cases in your work area, or
anything is unclear.

I'll post meeting notes of yesterday's meeting shortly. Our next conference
call is scheduled for Monday June 27 at 9:00 am PST. Send me a direct E-Mail
if you'd like to do a phone call before.

Cheers,
Martin
