File is out of sync problem [message #733510]

I have a web project that,as part of it's Maven (M2E) build, writes a file "version.properties" directly to the /target/classes/properties folder.

The Eclipse clean/build process works correctly, and I can publish to tomcat for debugging. However, if I touch ANYTHING and then attempt to republish to tomcat, I get the following error:

Resource is out of sync with the file system: '/MyProject/target/classes/properties/version.properties'.

Can someone at least point me in the right direction here? What is tripping Eclipse up and making it think this file is out of sync?
