Hello everyone,

while looking for osgi server solutions I stumbled accross gyrex. It is very
interesting to me as I would like to build a web application that shall be
distributed and should use mongodb. Up until now I've been working on my
own but I would like to get using gyrex.

Now my question is: What is the best way to get started with gyrex?
I would like to checkout the sources and play with the examples. To do so,
I cloned the git cvs mirror from git://dev.eclipse.org/org.eclipse.gyrex/org.eclipse.gyrex.git
(using cvs too awful to me). But now I have a lot of compile and bundle resolving
errors. How do I correctly setup my target platform to get the gyrex server
code and the appropriate examples running?

Thanks

Francois

That's the brutal way... Sorry about that. We really need to get to
producing good tutorials.

There is an easier way.

* Start with a fresh workspace
* Open the Target Platform preferences page
* Create a new Target Platform and add the "Gyrex Target Components with
Dependencies" from the latest Software Site at
http://download.eclipse.org/gyrex/0.11/integration/
* Make sure that "Include all environments" is checked

I attached a screenshot for you. It still uses the official 0.10 release
but I recommend that you use
http://download.eclipse.org/gyrex/0.11/integration/. It contains a lot
bug fixes. We intend to release it for EclipseCon Europe.

There is a simple example in Git:
http://git.eclipse.org/c/gyrex/examples/hello-cloud.git/

There should be a shared launch config in the Examples ready to go.

It's obviously too late for a Friday. Here it is. :)
