Are there any other ways of asking for help [message #710821] Fri, 05 August 2011 12:53 Go to next message

A few days ago I asked for help about a JDT issue. I would like to set the Javadoc and Source location programatically.

I probably asked the question poorly, or sent the request to the wrong forum as although a lot of people have looked at the question, there are no replies.

I note that many questions don't get answered on this forum: on the first page as I write this, almost exactly half are not being answered.

Am I posting to the wrong forum?
Are there any other forums that people post JDT questions to?
Is there a better way of asking the original question?
Are there more appropriate forums for this kind of question?

Any help gratefully received

Hi

The Eclipse newsgroups (forums) are a community thing and there is
absolutely no guarantee for an (correct) answer. This is not to be
mistaken with a commercial support offering backed by employees paid
to answer all questions.

I read your question a few days ago, but did not answer because I
simply don't know the answer. It could be that the same is true for
the other people here...

I agree its not a commercial offering, hence my request for other places to ask sensible questions. Many of the people in this community know where to ask, and I would appreciate any help in how to better present the question, or where else to ask it.

Thanks for taking the time to read the question anyway
