Hi,
I am trying to figure out if tptp has capability of launching
runtime-workbench that includes the plugins in the workspace, so tests for
a under development plugin can be done without deploying the plugin under
test first. This can be done with PDE Junit, but I really like many other
features in TPTP. It would be great if it can be done with tptp, too. Any
information and help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Joan

Hi Joan,
Although the run-time workbench is not deployed with TPTP JUnit plug-in
tests to the target machine, the plug-ins under test are deployed to the
target machine. However, you need to have a suitable version of the Eclipse
workbench on the target host. In the local scenario, you are running an
instnace of the local workbench with the plugins in your workspace. For
more information, see:

Paul,
Thanks for your answer. I created a small plugin and a Junit Plug-in test
for this plugin. It runs fine with PDE Junit, but after I ported it to
tptp Junit plugin test, I keep getting java.lang.NullPointerException when
deploy on the local workbench, and getting
org.eclipse.hyades.internal.execution.local.control.Inactive ProcessException
if create a deployment for the test (basicly local too). Any idea why? I
don't see similar choices of workspace plugins when defining Eclipse
Workbench properties as in plug-ins tab of Junit Plug-in Test definition
page, I would assume these two places serving the same purpose when
running a junit plugin test. Am I right?
Thanks,
Joan

Hi Joan,
What version of TPTP are you using? Basically, (assuming you are
running TPTP V4.1.x+) you should be able to run your JUnit plug-in test
using TPTP by following these steps:
1) Import the JUnit plug-in test class to a TPTP JUnit plug-in test suite
(File >> Import >> Test >> JUnit plug-in tests to TPTP).
2) Right-click on the test suite and select Run As >> Test.
Following the above steps, can you attach Eclipse's .log file if it
continues to fail?
