Hello,

we (European Software Institute) are interested in becoming committers to
the Eclipse Process Framework project Beacon. I guess there is an approval
to be requested to other committers along with the proposed participation,
but I can't find where to send this request.
Is it supposed to request it here at this forum?

Can anyone provide any support?

Thanks a lot. Best regards,
Asier Azaceta

Hi Asier,

We are glad to hear that the European Software Institute wants to join EPF
project. As you may know, the project is in proposal phase, thus the
committee hasn't been stablished yet.

Companies can be co-proposers and suggest committers, whereas individuals
can start as
contributors and could be promoted to committers. You may always want to
take a look at the Eclipse Development Process Guidelines for more
information on how development within Eclipse works:
http://www.eclipse.org/org/processes/Guidelines_for_Eclipse_ Development_Process/

Please, help us to understant in what areas ESI is interested in
contributing to by posting a short statement on this forum.
Once again, we appreciate your interest.

Regards.

Dear Ricardo (and rest of the proposal team),

ESI is willing to contribute to the project Beacon by:
- providing content for Model-Driven Development (MDD) domain's processes
(exemplary processes) and practices, initially for sofware engineering and
possibly extending to complex systems engineering. We would also be
willing to become MDA process champions for the Sept 2006 milestone.

- developing tools for supporting the enactment of these processes,
through links to Project Management tools like MS Project and/or
OpenWorkbench, and integration with other standards and concepts like the
MDA Tool Components (with processes execution in mind).

- participating in the development and submission of SPEM2.0, where our
participation is mainly centred around process enactment support.

I think these items are complementary for the project (from the MDD/MDA
domain perspective) and help putting processes in action (through
enactment and execution)

I will be glad to hear any feedback or suggestion you all may have on
these contributions or other ones where our expertise in processes and MDA
can be useful.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Asier Azaceta.

Asier,

No questions that these are great areas where contribution will be welcomed.

We are now working on better understanding how each company will participate
in this project when it starts: full time or close-to-full-time
contributors/committers versus part-time contributors for n number of hours,
and so on.

In the next few days we will announce a face-to-face meeting where all
interested parties can participate, then we will better understand companies
involvement in order to detail the project plan. Please stay tuned for
postings on this forum about that meeting.

Thank you.
