Hi,

we had a few quite busy days this week but I'm happy to announce that the first prototype of the Extended Documentation Provider is ready for early access now!

The plug-in can be installed from the HEAD update-site here: http://download.eclipse.org/recommenders/updates/head/

This prototype currently comes with a subclassing directives provider, an integrated calls recommender and a few more prototypes we are currently working on. Yet, most of these providers are stubs or examples of what can be done with an extended javadoc provider (like the example code recommender) but will be implemented soon - either by us or by a student or by you Smile.

Thus, if you have an idea what kind of documentation you would like to see inside this extended javadoc view just let us know. There are also some feedback buttons like quality/star ratings, delete, and edit options. These features are just mocks yet but will be implemented soon. The cool thing about these feedback buttons is that we will start leveraging user feedback for instance to judge the quality of mined code examples etc. in the near future to build a continuously improving documentation system. Stay tuned for more details on this.

The screenshot below shows the extended javadoc platform in action:

index.php/fa/3063/0/

Thus, if you like just install the current head build and provide us with some feedback and your ideas. We will have a one or two weeks test run before we start announcing it in a blog post.

Comments welcome.

Best,
Stefan, Johannes, and Marcel
