Mylyn task context size conflicts with bugzilla settings [message #68717]

Hi,

I am working with Mylyn 3.1.1 v20090411-0400-e33 [Eclipse Europa]. I also
experimented the same with 3.4 using Eclipse Ganymede as well.

Currently I have limited the non patch attachments size to 1000kb in
Bugzilla. And i tried to attach a task context (modified only one java
file) to Bugzilla. Surprisingly, i see my task context is 1592kb in size
for just one java file modification. This results in the following
bugzilla error.

"The file you are trying to attach a file 1592 kilobytes in size.
Non-patch attachments cannot be more than 1000kb
We recommend that you store your attachment......"

I don't want to increase the non patch attachment size in bugzilla to more
than 1000kb. I am surprised to see the mylyn task context is 1592kb in
size for just only one java file method modification. Why the size is too
big for these type of simple task context? is there any solution for this?

Please help me in understanding the task context size and its nature in
mylyn.

Hi,

Today i even tried to increase the non patch attachment size in bugzilla
from 1000kb to 2000kb but still i see the same error. Any clue/idea is
greatly appreciated?

Typical contexts should be around a few kb. Anything larger than that
probably indicates a bug of some sort. Can you file a bug report and
include more details about your environment such as the type of projects
you work on and the installed plug-ins?

An update on this issue.

I did a fresh installation of eclipse ganymede and tried to add the
context for the same task but this time i see task context size is only
1.42kb instead of 1592kb size earlier. This is really a strange behaviour
and i am not sure where was the problem earlier.

Test Environments Tried
a. Eclipse Eurpoa with Mylyn 3.0.x
b. Eclipse Ganymede with Mylyn 3.4.x

Now i am not able to simulate the problem.
