I am just testing e4 4.1 m5 with the tutorials from Lars Vogel and Tom Schindl. When I open the workspace which was created with m1 they do not run.

After creating a new project with the e4 project creation wizard I figured out why. With m5 the framework assumes the existence of the add-ons in Application.e4xmi:

• org.eclipse.e4.core.commands.service
• org.eclipse.e4.ui.contexts.service
• org.eclipse.e4.ui.bindings.service
• org.eclipse.e4.ui.workbench.commands.model
• org.eclipse.e4.ui.workbench.contexts.model
• org.eclipse.e4.ui.workbench.bindings.model

Is this a planned change? I could not find anything in the release notes. And if yes: What is the reason that now the references are in the project.product file and in the add-on part?

Hi,

Yes they have been introduced IIRC in m3 and there is a thread on e4-dev
describing them.

My proposal was by then that those addons should NOT be defined by the
user but instead of added by Model-Processors contributed by the
defining plug-ins because by definition an Eclipse 4.x Application CAN'T
function without them!
