So far I have not been able to clone or add any repository using egit so far.

When connecting to an existing repository, it just hangs and I need to kill eclipse. (I have left it overnight to see if it is just very slow).

When cloning a repository, it will download ok, but never finish. again need to kill eclipse.

I'm using Helios and 0.93. I also can't seem to update to the latest nightly because of some missing doc jars.
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
Unable to read repository at http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-nightly/plugins/org.eclipse.egit.doc_0.10.0.201012151524.jar.

- Is your repository behind a firewall ?
- If yes they tend to be configured in a way to only accept http traffic, in that case you would need to configure proxy settings under Preferences > General > Network
- Which protocol are you using ?
- Did you try to clone the same repository using native git command line ?

- When read times out during installation you should first check that you can reach download.eclipse.org (again proxy settings ?)
- I successfully installed from egit-nightly several times last night.

Hi

Just come back to it and still having issues with this. Let me answer your questions in order.

- Is your repository behind a firewall ?
--- Yes there is a firewall, but both machines are inside the corporate network

- If yes they tend to be configured in a way to only accept http traffic, in that case you would need to configure proxy settings under Preferences > General > Network
--- Proxy is configured for external access, but shouldn't make a difference.

- Which protocol are you using ?
--- Have tried http and ssh

- Did you try to clone the same repository using native git command line ?
Native command line and tortoisegit work fine.

- When read times out during installation you should first check that you can reach download.eclipse.org (again proxy settings ?)
- I successfully installed from egit-nightly several times last night.
--- I found this happens when I try and "update" rather than install. If I uninstall and then install the new version it works fine.
Is there any way to turn on more detailed logging to see what's going on?

Additionally it also seems to hang when selecting a folder and trying to import existing repositories on the local machine.

i.e the "Scanning for GIT repositories" dialog sits there indefinitely.
