Misaligned feature name problems after upgrading to SR1 [message #630274] Fri, 01 October 2010 11:43 Go to next message

Hi

After upgrading to the Modeling EPP SR1, I am getting a variety of
builder and editor initialization failures due to "The feature
'tilities' is not a valid feature" also for or 'angType' or
'avaImplementionCS'. In each case the problem feature is a valid feature
name less its leading character.

These problems cause fatal Resource load issues and prevent the Acceleo
Editor or Builder being used; the error log suggests the Xtext builder
has a problem too.

The problems go away within a nested Eclipse session.

I suspected some Java 5/6 or file encoding nightmare but couldn't find
any real difference. I reverted back to SR'0' and for a while the
Acceleo editor seemed ok. Eventually bit rot set in and SR0 and SR1
are now equally broken.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Hi Ed,

Do you have an hint as to what caused this? Otherwise, could you provide
us with the list of features you installed?

Hi Laurent

I suspect, it is a Platform or possibly EMF bug. I was just hoping that
someone might have also seen this and solved it.

I've never had much success reusing a Workspace after an upgrade despite
one of the senior Platform guys claiming that he had kept the same
workspace going for many years.

Problem goes away when I start a brand new workspace, yet again. My old
workspace had far too many interesting incubation projects like Modisco
and Papyrus to be able to pin down a cause.

Ed,

I prefer that :p. Just tried to download a fresh 3.6.1 modeling package
and install some projects (including Acceleo) from the discovery UI, and
I couldn't reproduce this (hopefully).

I never trusted in updating from one version to the next ... You're not
helping that ^^.
