I am a freshman in Eclipse, and I am trying to use ECF to share editing
with others.
I installed the ECF 2.0 through the update site
(http://www.eclipse.org/ecf/downloads.php#2.0.0M5) on my Eclipse 3.3. But
when I followed the instructions (http://wiki.eclipse.org/DocShare_Plugin)
to use DocShare Plugin, I found that I do not have a context menu called
"Share Editor With..." when I right-click on one text file.
Then I tried to play with the COLA example, and I followed the
instructions in the wiki page
(http://wiki.eclipse.org/Example_Shared_Text_Editor). But in my Eclipse
preferences, I don't have the "team->ECF Editor Sharing" configuration as
mentioned in the wiki, and unfortunately, I can not open those pictures in
that wiki.
I have checked that I do have plugins called
"org.eclipse.ecf.docshare_2.0.0.v20080623-0024" and
"org.eclipse.ecf.example.collab_1.3.0.v20080623-0024" in my Eclipse, and I
have searched in this newsgroup for any information about this. But they
are not so useful.
In addition, I can not download the source code and build it myself due to
the policy of the firm.
So do I miss installing something? Anybody got ideas for more tests I can
run to pin down the problem?
Thank you!

Did you try it on a Java file? Are both you and your colleague connected
to XMPP through Eclipse?

Thank you for giving me the suggestions. I have tried java file and text
file, but they both failed. Is there any way to configurate our server in
Eclipse (such as in the preferences page)?
I didn't try to communicate with my colleague because we can not use
XMPP/Google Talk in our firm. So that causes another problem, and I will
ask it in another message.
