What I do:
ResourceSet resourceSet = new ResourceSetImpl();
Create resource set and load xsd, wsdl and finally bpel files into it:
URI uri = URI.createFileURI(file.getAbsolutePath());
Then I get XSDTypeDefinition for variable :
XSDTypeDefinition type = var.getType();
Then I see two problems:
1. I get only proxy object, while there is correct xsd in resource set
2. The proxy object has incorrect namespace in QName
See 'complexTypeInXSD' variable in attached bpel.
