Hi,

I am using the remote systems explorer mostly to transfer and possibly edit text files. Quite frequently, these text files are big log files and the connection is slow. For that reason, I'd like to enable on-the-fly compression by using the ssh option -C. Is that possible? What do I need to configure?

Thanks,

Jochen

Hi Jochen,

You cannot enable compression in TM/RSE out of the box today.

It might be possible tunneling your connection through an SSH connection
with compression that you create on commandline. For details, see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=195170#c39

At any rate, I'd suggest filing an enhancement request against Target
Management, asking for compression support. It looks like the underlying
JSch library that we use for SSH access does support compression as part
of its config, so it shouldn't be awfully difficult to add this to the
connector service.

To file an enhancement, you can just create this link:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=Target%2 0Management

HTH,
Martin
