Hello everybody,
I was wondering if there is anybody working on an iCal connector for
Mylyn or if somebody is interessted in developing such a connector?
I think this would be a great extension. Supporting such a standard will
help to spread the use of Mylar and integrators don't need to implement
their own connectors. Instead their can rely on a standardized interface
that is usable by many other tools like Thunderbird, Sunbird, Apples
iCal & Mail tools or even Microsoft Outlook in its newest version.
Best regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,
While we have discussed this on occasion, we do not have a bug report
for such a connector so could you please file one?
http://www.eclipse.org/mylyn/bugs
One challenge is that the VTODO
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar#To-do_.28VTODO.29) format used
by some of these applications is quite limited in contrast with what we
consider required for task-focused work. But that's not to say that
having some kind of mechanism for either import/export or connections to
iCalendar based task management systems won't be useful. One rquest
that's related is CSV-based import/storage:
193439: [connector] CSV task storage or import
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=193439
The other thing that we have been discussing is standardizing on an XML
format for repository tasks, which would provide both extensibility and
the lowest-common-denominator of attributes that Mylyn relies on for
task repository connectors.
