I am using AbstractGraphicalEditPart as a root edit part in my diagram and want to show dotted grid in my diagram. I have subclassed the GridLayer class to draw the grid I want, but don't know how to set it as a GridLayer on the edit part. I searched on the forum where they asked to use ScalableFreeformRootEditPart or ScalableRootEditPart but I don't want to use them.

Please let me know how I can do that.

Thank you,

If you decide to use your own RootEditPart class, you need to manage a LayeredPane instance in your class. It is the key to support multiple layers for your diagram.

You may look into source code of subclasses of SimpleRootEditPart e.g. FreeformGraphicalRootEditPart and/or ScalableRootEditPart to learn how to do that.
