Hi,

does anybody know what is meant by "command support" concerning the
Information Center?
Quote: "All features of help system except context help, active help,
command support, and the help view are supported." taken from
http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. platform.doc.isv/guide/ua_help_setup_infocenter.htm

A quick search for "command support" in the Eclipse Help provided only
this single hit and I didn't find any other resource that helped
explaining it.
Thanks for any insights!

Regards,

Holger

In workbench mode the help system allows a help page to contain a link which can launch a command. See http://help.eclipse.org/helios/topic/org.eclipse.platform.do c.isv/guide/ua_help_content_command.htm for more information. This allows for help pages which have a hyperlink which can open a preference dialog or perform some other action which is available as a command.

In infocenter mode this is not supported for security reasons and because it does not make sense for a web client to be initiating a command on the server.

Hi Chris,

thanks for your reply, I wasn't aware of that feature and learned
something new ;)
Perhaps the link between
http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. platform.doc.isv/guide/ua_help_setup_infocenter.htm
and
http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. platform.doc.isv/guide/ua_help_content_command.htm
could be improved so that the relation is more obvious. Or perhaps
"command support" could just be mentioned in the latter page.

Thanks again
Regards,

Holger
