Repository install for use only with Mylyn [message #55318] Wed, 06 August 2008 18:45 Go to next message

I was curious if anyone has any suggestions on picking a repository for
use only with Mylyn. My employer has an issue tracker (DevTrack) and
scm(Accurev) which do not work with Mylyn (nor do I really want to spend
the effort to make them work with Mylyn) So I was thinking of setting up
a repository for my team (9 people) to use. Since I don't need the
"other" features of Bugzilla or Trac or xPlanner etc.. I wanted to hear
from the community which one best supports Mylyn (and hopefully is the
easiest to get running)..

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

just some thoughts...

1. Did you consider to use/add an HTTP wrapper around this issue tracker and use the generic web
connector? It could be as easy as an CGI script and return text (not HTML) for easier parsing.
In this way, you would stay connected to your standard issue tracker.

2. Bugzilla is the reference implementation for Mylyn. But I guess Bugzilla is difficult to setup
and has a wealth of configurations... But these are my personal feelings since I never set up a
Bugzilla repository.

3. Trac is very nice IHMO, and the Mylyn support should be good (Steffen did it as I remember). So I
would go that way otherwise.

4. xPlanner seems to be a bit more difficult to set up and I had the impression that it is not
actively developed any longer... But if you want to do agile / extreme programming, this could be
the best choice.

Cheers, Jörg
