Hi,

I was debugging an application before Eclipse decides to die. Okay, no problem, restarting Eclipse but since that it starts up and stucks then. Even a reboot of the computer does not help. I can change the focus of my windows but thats all. I cannot click or type anything.
I tried to start eclipse from the console with following output:

$ ./eclipse -consolelog -refresh
!SESSION 2010-07-14 22:30:38.716 -----------------------------------------------
eclipse.buildId=unknown
java.version=1.6.0_20
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86_64, WS=gtk, NL=de_DE
Framework arguments:  -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product -refresh
Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86_64 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product -consolelog -refresh

!ENTRY org.eclipse.core.resources 2 10035 2010-07-14 22:30:40.518
!MESSAGE The workspace exited with unsaved changes in the previous session; refreshing workspace to recover changes.

Can anyone tell me what to do now?

Thanks,
Markus

There have been some problems with PermGen space and java 1.6.0
(although I thought it was u21, and it looks like you are running u20).

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=319495

You could try a similar solution, adding this line after -vmargs in your
eclipse.ini:
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m

It was already there. Actually I do not think something like this will help because it worked now since a lot of month with this configuration. Between the crash and the restart I did not change my system.
In my mind it is something like a broke workspace caused by the crash.

What ever it was, it works again.
I renamed my workspace, started Eclipse, created a test project, closed Eclipse, renamed my old workspace back to what it was and now it starts up normally.

Someone an idea what that could have been?
