I have a Problem with the Team Syncronizing Perspective.
And i don't know the right handling of the Bugzilla Tool.
So i post it hier for discussion.

System Linux openSuse 11.2
Java jdk1.6.0_18 or jdk1.5.0_22
eclipse-php-helios

1. get new Project from CVS
In the Workspace is all OK.

ls -l testDojo/html/
insgesamt 76
drwxr-xr-x 6 germund germund 4096 28. Jun 15:51 ./
drwxr-xr-x 4 germund germund 4096 28. Jun 15:51 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 germund germund 2044 6. Apr 12:37 anim-01.html
-rw-r--r-- 1 germund germund 2388 28. Apr 09:49 bigCalendar.html
-rw-r--r-- 1 germund germund 1896 6. Apr 12:37 BorderContainer-01.html
...

2. commit changes in other IDE
File BorderContainer-01.html is changed

3. in eclipse-php-helios
Team Syncronize with Repository
update

ls-l testDojo/html/
insgesamt 76
drwxr-xr-x 6 germund germund 4096 28. Jun 15:51 ./
drwxr-xr-x 4 germund germund 4096 28. Jun 15:51 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 germund germund 2044 6. Apr 12:37 anim-01.html
-rw-r--r-- 1 germund germund 2388 28. Apr 09:49 bigCalendar.html
-rw------- 1 germund germund 1883 28. Jun 15:53 BorderContainer-01.html
....

The File BorderContainer-01.html was updated (date and time OK).
but the file properties group and other rights are lost.
The linux umask is 0022

The CVS Repository look OK. So the Bug is on the Client.

/home/cvsroot # ls -l testDojo/html/
testDojo/html/:
insgesamt 76
drwxrwsr-x 5 germund cvs 4096 28. Jun 15:53 ./
drwxrwsr-x 5 germund cvs 4096 28. Jun 15:53 ../
-r--r--r-- 1 germund cvs 2244 6. Apr 12:37 anim-01.html,v
-r--r--r-- 1 germund cvs 2589 28. Apr 09:49 bigCalendar.html,v
-r--r--r-- 1 germund cvs 2468 28. Jun 15:52 BorderContainer-01.html,v

The Bug is only in the Team Syncronizing Perspective.
In the PHP Projekt Explorer is the update Function is OK.
The Bug is only in Helios (galileo 3.5.2 is fine)

Can anybody help my???

Best regards
Wolfgang

I followed your steps using classic Eclipse 3.6 and it worked fine to me: when I updated a file modified on a server, group and others permissions didn't change (-rw-rw-r-- in my case) as in your case.

Could you please give a try with Eclipse Classic 3.6?

Starting with 3.6 we support unix file permissions (see here) but I'm not sure if this is related.

I have the same problem with Eclipse J2EE 3.6 Build id: 20100617-1415

Eclipse CVS Client version is 1.2.0.v20100427-7B77FKs8sF7B77SDX4GW85

after an update via the Team Sync-View updates files always have -rw------- permissions. that makes in neccesary to reset these after every update, to make them readable for apache/tomcat.
